High-Street Halloween Hijinks

Shops in Sandown High Street, and across the Town, took part in a fiendishly fun and family friendly window dressing  competition.

Guys N Dolls, hairdressers at 117 High Street, received a specially made Wizard Gonk and box of chocolates for their winning display, with other participating outlets also recognised.

Town Mayor, Alex Lightfoot said ‘With Christmas events coming up, we wanted to help highlight the range and variety of shops and businesses in the Town throughout the year, and the continuous efforts of traders to refresh and renew their window displays.’

The Town Council have also voted to support an out of season initiative to promote increased footfall in the Town, as part of the Bay Place Plan Project, following on from the community painting of the railings on the promenade, and installation of a grant funded Changing Places facility at Eastern Gardens,

Cllr Lightfoot added ‘Residents highlighted, at a recent Town Council meeting, the momentum that is being generated and the T.L.C. given by community volunteers, with action taken, through our Council funded enforcement officer, on the major challenges facing the Town; as well as supporting the smaller projects that celebrate success and recognise the positive differences being made at a grassroots level.’

Sandown Town Council have also progressed grant aided projects at Los Altos, Sandham Grounds, and the Library, with renovation at Yaverland Toilets underway, and the budget consultation (available at Budget Consultation 2025/2026 Survey) helping shape resource allocation for 2025 onwards.
